FAQ ABOUT THE SLS FRANCE PROGRAM:
- HOW DO I APPLY?
To apply for the SLS France Program, you will need to submit the general GTL application. Be sure to check the box on the application to indicate that you would like to participate in the SLS France Program.
2. DO I NEED TO KNOW FRENCH TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM?
To participate in the SLS-France Program at Georgia Tech-Lorraine, you must be at the intermediate level or above in French (i.e. have already taken French 2001, or have permission from the instructor).
3. WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED COURSES FOR THIS PROGRAM?
As part of the SLS-France Program, you are required to take FREN 3501: Sustainable Communities in France (classroom based) and FREN 3500: Field Work Abroad (community based) while at Georgia Tech-Lorraine. You may complete your schedule with any other courses offered at Georgia Tech-Lorraine.
4. ARE THERE ANY SCHOLARSHIPS?
Yes. Apply to be the SLS-France Program blogger for a chance to have your written work published on the SLS-France site and receive $500 in return for your work. Email email@example.com for more information about the blogger application and requirements.

5. WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PROGRAM?
The SLS France Program is at no additional cost to the standard GTL tuition and fees.

6. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THE GTL PROGRAM?
With an emphasis on French language study, Sciences, and Sustainability, students will experience real language immersion while focusing on the region’s sustainability efforts through coursework, service-learning projects, and excursions. Students will have the opportunity to engage with Metz’ residents on issues such as the fight against climate change; the preservation of the region’s biodiversity and natural resources; and ideas about improving the quality of life for the city’s inhabitants.
7. IS THE PROGRAM OPEN TO NON-GT STUDENTS?
Yes. Non-GT students (transient students) are welcome to study at GTL and participate in the SLS France Program. Transient students must have a 3.0 GPA in order to be considered for the program. Please contact us at SLS-France@gatech.edu for further application details.
8. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE TO GTL?
Georgia Tech students must have a 2.5 GPA minimum to attend GTL. Transient (non-GT) students must have a 3.0 GPA. Students must have no disciplinary actions on their record.
9. ARE THE RECOMMENDED ELECTIVES MANDATORY?
The recommended electives are only recommendations and are not required. The only required courses are FREN 3501 and FREN 3500. You many choose any electives offered at Georgia Tech-Lorraine to complete your schedule.
10. WHICH COURSES ARE APPROVED FOR SLS CREDIT?
